Privacy Policy
Effective: May 26, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Zenawi (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you use the Resume Guide mobile application (the “App”). By using the App you agree to this Policy.
1. Information we collect
1.1 Information you give us
- Account information — your email address (and Google account profile information if you sign in with Google) used to sign you in and identify your account.
- Resume content — the information you type or import into a resume: your name, contact details, work history, education, skills, certifications, projects, and any uploaded profile photo.
- Job descriptions (JDs) and cover letter inputs — text you paste or upload so the App can tailor a resume or cover letter for a specific role.
- HR / candidate data — if you use the optional HR features to evaluate other people’s resumes, the resume text and any notes you attach.
- Support requests — anything you send us by email or in-app feedback.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data — app version, device model, operating system version, language, and basic event logs (e.g., resume created, export performed). We do not collect advertising identifiers.
- Purchase information — Google Play sends us a receipt token confirming the product you bought and whether it is valid. We do not see or store your payment card details.
- Diagnostics — non-personal crash logs that help us fix bugs.
2. How we use your information
- To create, store, and improve your resumes, cover letters, and HR evaluations.
- To generate AI-tailored content (resume rewrites, optimization suggestions, cover letter drafts, HR summaries) using third-party AI services described in Section 4.
- To verify purchases and grant the credits you bought through Google Play.
- To diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and improve the App.
- To respond to support requests.
3. AI processing
The App offers AI-powered features such as resume optimization, modify-with-AI, cover letter generation, and HR evaluation. When you use these features, the relevant resume text, job description, or evaluation input is sent to a third-party AI service provider for processing and the generated text is returned to the App.
We use established commercial AI providers under their standard API terms. As of the effective date these providers do not use your inputs to train their public models. We do not knowingly send AI providers any field labelled as sensitive (such as government identifiers or financial account numbers) — please do not paste sensitive information into resume or JD fields.
4. Where data is stored and who can see it
Your resume data is stored on application servers we operate. Today those servers run on Render (a US-based cloud platform) with a managed PostgreSQL database. In the future we may move some or all storage to our own self-hosted server (a NAS appliance) located in the United States. In either case, storage remains under our control and is protected by industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest.
Only people on our team who need access for support, billing, or debugging can read account or resume data, and only to perform their duties.
5. Sub-processors and third parties
We share the minimum information necessary with the following service providers, who are bound to handle it only as we instruct:
- Google Play Billing — to verify purchases and grant credits.
- Render / database provider — to host the application server and store your data.
- AI provider(s) (such as OpenAI or Anthropic) — to generate AI content as described in Section 3.
- Email and analytics tools — to send transactional emails (for example, password resets) and to count anonymous usage events. We do not share personal identifiers with analytics tools beyond an opaque user id.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
6. How long we keep data
We keep your resumes, cover letters, and account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete a resume from the App, the copy in the database is removed within 30 days. If you delete your account (see Section 7), all your personal data is removed within 30 days, except where law requires us to retain limited records (e.g., purchase receipts for tax purposes).
7. Your rights
You can:
- Access — view all your resumes inside the App.
- Correct — edit any resume content at any time.
- Delete — delete individual resumes inside the App; delete your entire account by emailing support@resumeguide.ai with the subject “Delete my account.”
- Export — download any resume as PDF or Word from the App.
- Withdraw consent — uninstall the App at any time.
If you live in California, the EU, the UK, or another region with data protection laws (including the CCPA and GDPR), you also have the right to request a copy of your data and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8. Children’s privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use HTTPS/TLS for data in transit, encrypted storage at rest, and standard server hardening practices. No method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data using reasonable safeguards.
10. International users
The App is operated from the United States. If you access the App from outside the United States, you understand that your information is processed and stored in the United States.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Effective” date at the top of this page and, for material changes, notify you inside the App or by email.
